In the banquet hall there is a big gathering. Devika understood that it is going to be a big event and play. They waited there for some time before the director of show came. He was the owner of the resort, father of harish and his name was shankar. He greeted everyone and straight away started describing the play and what is expected of everyone. And also answered the questions of the actors.

Shankar - For this resort, this is very prestigious function and we want to make it grand success. I wanted everyone to contribute to the fullest and make this success. Remember the guest are all vip's from all over the world. And they are here to know about out tradition and culture. Everyone please make sure you are doing your part really well.

At the end of the session, everyone was given with their detailed character reference letter and also scene sequence letter. Devika received the character description letter of Nangeli. Everyone disperesed to study their character and prepare. Vishnu and devika reached their room and devika started reading the character letter to prepare for her role.

Character description letter

Nangeli is the wife of Chirukandan, She was born in a kerala village in backward caste. But she was very bold and beautiful.She was a fighter. She resisted the evil norms and customs in the society and fighted for the rights of women. During that time one of social rule was women belonging to the lower caste cannot cover their breast. And they have to pay tax based on the size of their breast if they are covering. Nangeli sacrificed her life fighting against this social injustice by cutting her breast. She bleeded to death. With her life she put an end to this evil rule in Kerala. Nangeli would be the best example when we discuss about Women empowerment and women rights.

Scene sequence and costume letter

Scene 1 - Marriage between Nangeli and chirukandan

Play starts with the marriage celebration of Nangeli and Chirukandan. Chirukandan is a long time friend of Nangeli and a good loving hardworking man. The celebration will depict how was the village marriage during 19th century. At the end of the scene both Nangeli and Chirukandan will be brought to their hut by their friends and family

Costume - Red mulakacha and mundu

( Mulakacha is a traditional piece of cloth worn around the breast and tied behind and mundu is worn around the waist like skirt and reaches till the feet)

Scene 2 - First Night

Second scene starts in the hut. Nangeli serve food to her husband, feeds him and they both have some loving talk. Nangeli remains shy all the time. After some romantic talks, chirukandan takes the initiative to touch Nangeli. They lovingly embrace each other, kisses and later chirukandan guides nangeli to bed. There they have the first night. Both of them gets intimate and passionately explore each other on their first night. The scene needs to be very romantic, seductive and erotic. At the end of the scene, both of the sleeps in each others arm.

Costume - Starts with same wedding dress and later Chirukandan removes Nangelis dress during the romantic scene. Both of them needs to be naked in the bed to give real effect to the audience. Actors can creatively use the blanket or other ways to avoid exposing to the audience.

Scene 3 - Bathing scene

Scene 3 starts with Nangeli waking up next morning and goes to the near by temple pond for taking bath. Chirukandan later joins her on the pond. A song will be played and during the song both newly wedded couple will play in the water and gets romantic again while taking bath.

Costume - Nangeli would wear fresh mundu after waking up and goes to the pond. While in water both Nangeli and Chirukandan should be naked. But both of them will not expose anything to audience and should remain inside water while being naked and during the romantic scene. After taking bath Nangeli wears the mundu around her shoulder.

Scene - 4 Meets son of minister

After after taking bath, Chirukandan and Nangeli goes back to their hut. But on the way they were stopped by the minister son and Nangeli was asked to remove her mundu and uncover her breasts. Nangeli refuses and Minister's son become angry and which results in a fight between Chirukandan and minister's son. Chirukandan thrashes and defeats him.

Costume - same costume, after reaching house changes to white mulakacha and mundu.

Scene-5 Minister's son comes back to take revenge.

Upon return to their hut, both of them were having food when the ministers son return back with army. And they were arrested by the army. Chirukandan was badly beaten infront of Nangeli and the villagers. Nangeli was forced to expose her breast infront of everyone. Later the tax collector comes and will assess her breast and asks her to pay breast tax. Nangeli goes to the hut and come back cutting her breast and throws to the face of rulers and bleeds to death

After reading the scene letter, Devika was totally shocked. She was in total disbelief looking at the amount exposure the character is required. She tells Vishnu

Devika - I dont think Vishnu I can do this.

Vishnu - what happened madam?

Devika - it requires lot of exposure, I cant do this

Vishnu - remember we don't have any other choice

Devika - but still Vishnu, how can I be naked and all

Vishnu - it is just a character. And everyone around us will be wearing similar costume

Devika - no Vishnu

Vishnu - madam, we dont have much choice and don't have any time. Think about this, what happens if Rahim or Ramu posts the clip online. Your life is gone. So we have to do this and this is our best opportunity to take away their phones and laptops and delete those clips.

Devika was quiet. Vishnu continued

Even though it was all acting and they staging a play , they depicted everything as if it is real. Rahim and ramu watched everything in disbelief and without knowing what to do. They just remained as a spectator. Other audience from the resort were appreciating the artwork, history etc. But Rahim and Ramu just was looking at Vishnu and Devika and what they were doing.

And after the celeberation , people who are acting as the friends of Nangeli and Chirukandan started accompanying them to a hut, which is decorated. Rahim and Ramu followed them. The person standing next to Rahim, who was also a spectator told "only the first 25 people coming will have access inside the hut, others wont be allowed inside. "

Saying that he ran towards the hut entrance. Rahim and Ramu also followed that guy and reached the entrance. There were resort guests going inside and a security was counting at the entrance. Luckily for Rahim and Ramu. They were the last 2 that was allowed inside. And security stopped anyone who came after them. Inside the hut, thr light was dim. The only light is coming from some candle lamps placed here and there. Inside the hut it is very spacious. It does not have any room. It is only one big space. At one side there is a mat kept at the floor with some utensils and fruits. At the other side there is a cot and bed. Which is decorated with flowers. And one side there are chairs kept for the audience to sit. There are already people sitting there. Rahim and Ramu without wasting much time occupied 2 seats in the front. Audience are sitting in dark and there is no lamp there ,so the actors will not be distracted when preforming. There is also chain tied infront of where the audience are sitting and apectators are not allowed beyond that point.

After sometime there was some cheer outside the hut. Soon both newly wedded couple entered the hut and their friends closed the door wishing them good luck.

Upon entering , devika was found little tensed. She understood that there are audience inside, even she cannot see them. But Vishnu was confident and like a profession actor walked and removed his cloth over the shoulder and kept aside. He took one of the lamp and kept it on the floor near the mat and sat on the floor

Vishnu - Nangeli, Im so hungry. I have not eaten properly from the morning

Devika came back from thoughts and realised she needs to act her portion

Devika - I will serve you Chiru

She walked and sat near Vishnu and served rice in the plate. And looked at Vishnu having the food. Vishnu had some food and took some rice in his hand and fed Devika.
