At hospital I got her name registered in opd and asked attendant to inform doctor that we have arrived. In return I got message that we have to wait for some time and after little more time I got the call. So I moved to consultation room, doctor welcomed me with warm hug as he is best friend of my eldest bro. wow you grown so tall chotu he exclaimed. Yes bade we have not met for long and for your information I am no more chotu now I said laughing. That I can see chotu but by growing tall you cant become elder to me he too laughed. I handed him all the reports we had carried. I introduced rukmani as my cousin and lavanya as her nanad. He shook hand with lavanya and said namasthe to rukmani. Then he began studying all the reports though he had seen all of them as I had mailed them to him. By then a team of foreign doctor delegates appeared. He introduced each of them to me and lavanya as patient. They again studied all the reports and suggested fresh x ray of the patient. We got it done and after seeing fresh x ray they discussed some thing in technical terms which I could follow hardly. After long discussion they said, she needs surgery; of course I had expected it.
But one thing is sure I shall settle most of your problems. I am sure you will be alright soon. I have thought of all the problems and solution also.
She – still I am worried bro, I know you are going to help me. But the things are not so easy already we have huge loans, this will cost us a lot. I don’t want you to suffer for this, it is better we cancel surgery and go back. We can have it done when we improve financially.
Me – didi I know your worries, but you can’t get this experts service later. At any cost we will have it done now itself. I can’t see a such good sportsman suffering to walk even. As they have promised she will be able not only walking but can play too. I want to see her running in the field with hockey stick in her hands and others chasing her. Don’t you want to see her playing?
She – where did I say that I don’t want her to stand on her feet? I am always so thrilled to see her magnificent play. But this is not right time for that. I too love her too much but our condition is not favorable for all these.
Me – we are going to get it done now itself, it is now or never chance. I assure you that I shall bear all the expenses and if you become able to pay it back then ay or just forget it. When I have been considered as family member it is my bounden duty to fulfill all needs. Now don’t say any thing and let it happen. Just have faith in god and me every thing will be alright. Your words are making lose her confidence in herself.
She – but…….
Me – no ifs and buts, I have decided means it is final and it is going to be done now. If you want to stay , you can stay otherwise you can leave. I shall get the operation done and I shall bring her to you on her own feet. Now no more argument is allowed in this matter. Without bothering to listen her words I went inside room later she too followed me bowing her head down.
Lavanya – when are we leaving back to belgaum , she seemed to be determined to go back without operation.
Me – soon we will be returning back to our place. Her face lightened hearing that we are going to return soon. When doctors ask us to leave after surgery we wont stay here even for a day I replied.
lavanya – what do you mean?
Rukmani – it is decided to have operation tomorrow and every thing is being taken care of. Now just stop bothering about any thing. We are so lucky to have a brother like shree, he will manage every thing. If we become eligible to pay back we are going to pay him. Otherwise after all it is his duty to see his sister family is in peace. What do you say bro she looked at me and tried to smile, I could see sadness behind her smile.
After some more argument with lavanya we both convinced her for operation. Now it is time for lunch we shall go to a restaurant and have some food. I am feeling tired and hungry due to all this useless argument. Now hurry up and get ready to go. We went to a posh restaurant and had good food. Lavanya was impressed with the restaurant and food as she had never visited such posh restaurants.
After food we returned back to room and took some rest. After that I took them out and roamed in city till evening and in evening I took them to beach.
Both the girls had not visited this world famous marine beach, they enjoyed walking there. Lavanya was walking with her crutch and beside her was rukmani and I was last. Rukmani was holding lavany hand on one side and had placed other hand on my waste. We are roaming like a family, though she was holding me but it was purely brother like there were no ill intentions inside either of us. There were lots of young couples doing naughty things in public. Looking at them these both girls used to blush. No yaar sorry if I offend you but you are such a beauty and being sportsman that makes you queen of the college I thought you must be having at least few boy friends. No bhayya I don’t have evena single boyfriend. I don’t like to have any one all the time I was interested in studies and sports, I had never thought of giving time to such things and I don’t want to slip away from goal of playing for country and at the same time should not eave my position of number one in college in studies too. I am not angry on you no need to ask sorry but I am very simple girl and I don’t want to give chance to slip from my goal. Forget it, it is lost story where I have lost interest in my life and I am very sure I wont be able to achieve either of the goals. I wiped her eyes, here rukmani was also crying hearing all our conversations.
Rukmani – I had told no my bro is so humble and caring us all. Don’t worry he will take care of evry one, only thing is that his poor sister wont be able to pay back his debt. I wanted rukmani and lavanya life be improved and they should lead normal life, lavanya should achieve what she had dreamt. I was so satisfied for me helping them without any expectations. I got call from doctor he said lavanya should not take any food after eight o clock in the night and should get admitted at seven in the morning. So we had to move from there, we had food though it was bit early than the usual time. Then proceed to room.
We all changed dress and lay on bed we were talking about tomorrow operation, lavanya was getting tensed as she was scared for surgery, me and rukmani didi were convincing her and encouraging her making her mentally prepared. Even if I undergo surgery and still I fail to play what is use of the costly surgery, any way I am comfortable with crutches that is helping me to walk. What is need of operation she was still telling us to cancel the appointment. At last we prepared her for surgery she accepted without her will. Then rukmani called her hubby and conveyed about operation, by now he was half intoxicated , he was abusing his wife for taking decision and was shouting about the cost who will bear it, I don’t have dime in my pocket and how are we going to meet the expenses. Rukmani some how convinced him and said as no need to pay bhayya as long as we don’t improve financially , he being outsider is ready to help what kind of brother you are, you want to cancel the operation and asking us to come back. The argument was going beyond control and both were shouting each other over phone. Then I took phone from rukmani and convinced him t last he kept quite after threatening him.
It had spoiled mood of all of us, I tried my level best to bring mood to normal. Again this lavanya began crying with fear of surgery, I told her every thing will be ok as you are at best hands in the world and all will be fine. Will you come inside while I get operation she asked me? No dear others can’t enter o t but I shall be at door waiting for the good news. If you can come long with me then only I shall accept for the operation she made condition. At last I said I shall try to come inside I shall convince bade doctor and seek permission from him. Now she was bit happy and bit relaxed, I was sure they wont let me in o t.
As in the morning I went towards wall to sleep but lavanya asked me to sleep beside her, she said she is so tensed and feared she wants to hold my hand even while sleeping. It is aright baby you can come this side I invited her, she said no it wont be comfortable for me to sleep in middle as I will have to struggle while getting up, I have this problem she said with sad face. That is ok I shall move I said. In the morning it was all right as I was sleeping at the edge but I had to sleep between them I didn’t like idea but had no choice. Rukmani didi made space between them and I moved cautiously so that I don’t touch either of them. I laid on my back face at ceiling. Lavanya hold my hand and moved towards me, still our bodies were not touching with each other, there was enough space between us. Didi was also sleeping bit away, that was fine with me. I let lavanya hold my hand with other hand I caressed her face just to sooth her. Don’t worry every thing will be all right it was gods decision you had to suffer, now he only has sent us here for cure, you will be able to walk from Mumbai without any help of those ugly crutches. I can feel it bro, I can have it just because of your love towards our family. If my bro had come we would have gone back without operation for one thing I am scared and other thing is finance which we can afford. I closed her mouth never say it again my dear sis, as long as I am with you, you wont need to feel this way. I am always there to see you are in good position. Just wait and see what your another brother will bring to you. I have decided to bring all the happiness back to you.

Though two young females were hugging me from each side still my thoughts were clean and there was no space for any bad intention. My morning hardness which was pressed on her knee was lost in fraction of second. It was good that I was awake before her or else my morning hardness would have told her different story. May be she is aware of morning stiffness as she is married and had spent sexual life with her hubby but still embarrassing for both.
I slowly disengaged my sef and got up, looked at watch, it was five a m that was my usual time to leave bed. But today I didn’t have mood for jog and there was no much time also. Entered bath room and finished my chores and came out to awaken them. Soon they too got up and took bath, lavanya was not supposed to take tea so I too thought it is better not to drink in her presence.
We were at hospital right in time. We got her admitted lavanya still request me to be inside ot. Doctor too came and asked nurse to take her to o t, lavany requested doctor about my presence in o t or else whe wont agree for operation. He could understand her feelings and as he is very friendly with me he said ok I shall take him inside but you need to scrubbing chote, when I ask to come you will have to come with me, without that scrubbing process you wont be allowed inside. I said ok bade I shall come there though I did hate smell of those awesome disinfectants rubbing allover body and wearing those ghost like aprons I had to accept as lavanya was bent upon it. Soon she was taken to o t for preparation we both kissed her forehead sent her wishing best of luck and assuring her that I will be there when her preparation is completed.
When lavanya went away didi began crying , I asked her what happened holding her hand, she said I am really tensed about her, and you too want to go inside o t leaving me alone. How can I sit here alone with all the tensions, I wiped her eyes dont worry didi I shall be there till only she gets Anastasia when she loses her consciousness I shall come out, I don’t want to see her operation. You will be alone only till I come out, so no need to worry. Come on lets have something till I get call, without waiting for her reply I pulled her towards canteen as I knew she would not accept any thing to eat without much conversation we had break fast by the time we came back there was call for me. I soon got scrubbed and was inside o t , other doctors were looking at me my bro friend convinced about my presence, all the time I stood beside lavanya and was holding her hand and encouraging her to cooperate for surgery. After anesthesia I came out and joined didi. After couple of hours doctor came out and congratulated us for the successful operation.
We were called to his chamber where other doctors also joined us, they detailed about the implant and its working, how they had got it prepared specially for her and got it imported from usa. They all seemed to be satisfied with surgery, they further said tomorrow itself she will start walking but will have to stay few days for discharge. Both of us were really happy to learn every thing, when we will be able to see her I asked. It may take a hour or so, she is in recovery room there after she will be shifted to room. we took leave of them after thanking each of them profusely.
We had some time before she was shifted to room, rukmani was in tension she wanted see lavanya I consoled her as it is not possible now to see her. Let us have lunch and come back by then we may get chance to see her. Didi accepted in fact we were happy as the operation was successful. We both went to a good restaurant had food tough didi was still not in mood. After we went back to hospital on our request we were let to watch lavanya through window as we were not permitted to enter inside. We could watch her through some distance still she was not conscious, generally they give (spinal ) local anesthesia as she is very much scary she was given general anesthesia so it was taking time to recover. Doctor said every thing is all right she may need some more to gain full consciousness otherwise she is perfectly al right. We had nothing to do but to wait for her to recover.
After some time doctor informed us that she has recovered but still she needs observations but we could see her. Both of us went to her, she was not in a position to speak but she recognized us and smiled at us said she is ok. After that we were asked to go out not to disturb patient.
At night she was shifted to room, now she was perfectly all right she was still on drip as she was not advised to take food as she was having nausea after all those anesthesia and hospital environment. I sat beside her and asked how she was feeling, she said she is all right but feels so weak accept that she is al right, she hold my hand how long you wre in o t did you watch my operation and were you there till surgery was completed. No dear I had to go out as your bhabhi was alone and she too needed company as she was completely tensed. I know nothing after anesthesia I don’t know what they did to me and how long I slept. I was just awake and still dizzy when you visited me, but now I am all right she replied.
Some one had to be there to look after her. I said I shall stay back in hospital and didi may go to lodge, but didi wanted to stay back and wanted to be near her nanad. I said if that is the matter you can stay back and I shall proceed to lodge. But none of them agreed to let me go. In case of any need I have to be with them both said. It was difficult for two attendants to stay and it was against hospital rules, they let only one attendant to stay. It was hard to get permission for two to stay and it was not easy also to stay there as there was only one single bed for attendants. I was in soup I could not neither stay there nor could leave them on their own.
For some time I sat on bed of lavanya and chitchatted, I was caressing her head with brotherly love all the time she was holding my other hand, we spent some more time like this. Still I was trying to convince them either to let me go to lodge or didi should go to lodge. Nothing was agreed and at last it was decided that I too should stay back there only. In fact lavanya offered me to adjust on her bed which was not proper to sleep in patients bed, even I thought of getting extra cot but space was so small it could not contain another cot. All the time didi was pressing me to adjust both on same bed, and I had no other option to say yes. After food we both adjusted on single bed and lavanya had pain in her leg due to surgery she was given sedative and she slept peacefully.
It was almost impossible to sleep for us without touching each other. Didi had no any inhibitions she placed her head on my hand lay beside me letting her entire body adhere to me. I was feeling some odd sensation after all woman is woman, I was trying to keep some distance but she pushed herself to me sticking her body to
Once she kept her entire torso on my chest and lay as if she is sleeping with her hubby. So, one more night passed uneventfully.
Next day I got up as usual and went for jog and came back. By the time I returned both were awake I got tea for them, later didi took bath and even lavanya got fresh with help of nurse. Doctors came for morning round they de lavanya walk with help of walker, she was so excited to be on her own feet. Me and didi too were too happy watching lavanya walk on her both feet. Doctors were satisfied and they advised repeat x ray to confirm operation was proper, I took the x ray to doctor after seeing it he said it is perfect and nothing to worry. He said she can walk without walker soon after discharge and only she has to use walker as long she is in hospital later she will need only walking stick just for balancing herself and precaution.
In evening round doctors gave all the suggestions and precautions to be taken after discharge and gave schedule of her exercises and when she should begin walking without walking stick and when she can start running and rest of the course was detailed to us. Before they went he said he is going abroad for few days for some training and other foreign delegates have left already. Shall be discharged after four more days, I said ok . rest of the days passed like same and lavanya was completely confident in herself she could walk without any fear, she was so happy to place her left feet on ground after many months, only thing was bothering her was she was feeling little weakness in left leg as it was not used for months. Duty doctors clarified that it is very much natural and it will be gone after few days. Ow I was also adjusted to sleeping habit with didi as they had made me vacate lodge next day and made me spend all day and nights in hospital itself. That had bound us more closer and no bad thoughts were near any of us. Even didi was so happy as I never misbehaved despite of sleeping almost hugging her she had expressed it many times in simplest gestures.
I had to settle bill as lavanya was to get discharge, when I went to settle bill I was shocked to see the bill. I had never assumed that it would be so high. Apart from the implant and surgery bill expertise charges of those foreign doctors was added for all the doctors present at time of surgery. That was much more than rest of the bills. In fact my hands shivered looking at the bill. I tried to conceal my emotions still didi noticed it. She tried to look at the bill, but I didn’t allow her to see as she may too get disheartened. I had no other choice as doctor was out of station and not expected to return for few more days. I tried his cell as he was out of country I could not contact due to change in timings, without any thing to say I had to use all my credit cards to clear bill. It cost me hell of a burden, I did talk to present authorities if doctor had said any thing regarding bill they said they have no information and as routine practice they have prepared bill. I had nothing to say as they are unknown to me I settled the bill. I was just wondering how he could do it to me despite of he being my eldest brothers close friend and always he adored me like his younger brother. It may be routine practice to give honorarium to other experts, I should have asked him before hand but with trust I had not asked any thing now I repent on for not inquiring before operation.

Most important thing is lavanya’s future and it was perfect, now onwards she can walk and within a weeks time she will become eligible to run and play that was most important looking at her future I was satisfied and we left to home back. Didi tried many time to show the bill or asked the amount it costed. I said nothing it was not much I avoided the matter and when she asked for the last time I got bit irritated and said it is none of your business, jus look at lavanya and be happy for her recovery and future, she too kept quite.
After returning from Mumbai I became too busy in my works as I was absent for over a week. And garments unit was ready for inauguration. I had planned everything meticulously and the opening ceremony was grand I had planned it to be inaugurated by big swamiji and honorable ministers as I would need their help in future.
For the ceremony I had invited all my nearest and dearest people and relatives. Such as I had asked my family and nandini family too had arrived. Till the moment nandini didi was not at all aware of her position or role in garments unit. Purposefully I had not sent invitation card to her family but had called her over phone and had asked my mil and sister to bring them along with them. They too had come at right time of function. When there was announcement from stage inviting nandini didi managing director of the company come and take seat on Dias. She was completely confused and sat thinking that she was mistaken and there may be some other nandini . when ankitha with other girl went to escort then only she came to know that she herself is m d of the company.
In fact she was startled to know it, with warm smile of ankita she forgot every thing and slowly reached dias with all the family members and friends applause with claps as she slowly moved to stage. She was looking at me in shock and pleasure. I gestured her to be cool and I handed her flower as token of invitation, she looked at me and then at the flower, it was red rose she blushed a bit and recovered soon and took seat beside me. It was my plan not to inform her but rest of my family was aware malathi aunt was so happy for bringing her as m d , I had asked them not to inform so that I want to give her surprise. When she sat beside me on stage she said what is this shree bro, how come I am M D of the company and that too without my knowledge she asked still not believing. Then only I show her invitation card where her name was printed in bold letter and sneha didi as chairman of the company.
On inaugural speech of the company minister did appreciate the new venture and its need and importance at present time for all the employment it would generate and assured his all time support in future and he even promised to get government orders if we provide quality materials at most reasonable prices. Later it was M D speech, though nandini didi is good orator still se fumbled a bit due to most unexpected shock. Still she said this field is new to her but with help of all the expert staff she would justify her position with her works and concern towards company. ( I had already introduced entire crew to her). All the time I was looking at my most beautiful and loving didi clad in dark colored silk saree contrast to her white color. Chairman also delivered good speech as she had come well prepared and she did appreciate my help in setting the unit, and the function ended with blessings from swamiji followed by lunch to all invitees.
After the function nandini didi was brought to her cabin and she took charge her position in company. There was pride in her eyes to become M D of such a well equipped company and her position. Her prents and inlwas including her husband were so happy for getting such a position, only her mil said how will she lead such a company business, immediately her fil said she is clever girl and business graduate she will soon pick up I know her caliber and added with help of shree she will become expert . there is nothing to worry about it,I am confident about her, he thanked me giving most unexpected life to her and her family. He hugged me tight and began sobbing, at my fag end of life you did bring us so much pleasure, you should have born in my family shree, you are helping us in all ways. I am really proud of you my boy, his word made others eyes too damp.
Bhayya also hugged me and thanked me for giving such an opportunity to serve for her, you have kept up your words bro, I am really thankful to you.
Ramadevi assured didi not to worry as she will be with her and give her all the cooperation and suggestion so that she wont feel difficult to manage the unit. Rest of the crew were happy to see their M D as they are seeing her for the first time. Even I didn’t knew that what I am for this company it is because of my naughty brother who had kept me in darkness till this moment, but I wont disappoint you or him for choosing me for this post.
Then I took her family to apartment and said this is her temporary accommodation for our M D soon she will get new accommodation and all of them will have to reside here in belgaum, her hubby will be traveling frequently he will have his own car so that he can visit comfortably. Rest of her family were in hurry to leave but I made them stay for a day. Only one was disappointed at the arrangement was bhabhi, she didn’t like the accommodation for didi in flat, that had other reason. Didi raised objection how will she remain here alone till her family is shifted. Bhayya said don’t worry dear shree will be here till we all shift here, it may take a week or bit more for all of us to shift, what do you say shree he asked winking at me stealthily. If you are scared to live alone I shall be here till next arrangements are done I replied smiling at both of them. Till then I will be at aunts place.
She wanted me to stay there only but I said I need to go to aunts place and rest of the family is with you, when they leave I shall shift here I replied.
On the way back bhabhi was sitting beside me in car and others were sitting in rear seat. Bhabhi had lost complete mood she was completely quite till we reached home. I didn’t bother at her and soon I retired to room as I was tired. After some time aunt called me asking do I need any thing. I was quite as I was bit sleepy due to tiredness. Then bhabhi entered in room asking your aunt is asking that do you need any thing, she was fuming with anger. Yes I need you I replied smiling at her, she was still at door she had not come inside. She stood still looking at me in anger. I knew the reason so silently l went to her and pulled her closing door behind me, yes dear I need you , I tried to kiss her. They all seemed to be satisfied with surgery, they further said tomorrow itself she will start walking but will have to stay few days for discharge. Both of us were really happy to learn every thing, when we will be able to see her I asked. It may take a hour or so, she is in recovery room there after she will be shifted to room. we took leave of them after thanking each of them profusely.
We had some time before she was shifted to room, rukmani was in tension she wanted see lavanya I consoled her as it is not possible now to see her. Let us have lunch and come back by then we may get chance to see her. Didi accepted in fact we were happy as the operation was successful. We both went to a good restaurant had food tough didi was still not in mood. After we went back to hospital on our request we were let to watch lavanya through window as we were not permitted to enter inside. After some time doctor informed us that she has recovered but still she needs observations but we could see her. Both of us went to her, she was not in a position to speak but she recognized us and smiled at us said she is ok. After that we were asked to go out not to disturb patient.
At night she was shifted to room, now she was perfectly all right she was still on drip as she was not advised to take food as she was having nausea after all those anesthesia and hospital environment. I sat beside her and asked how she was feeling, she said she is all right but feels so weak accept that she is al right, she hold my hand how long you wre in o t did you watch my operation and were you there till surgery was completed. I was in soup I could not neither stay there nor could leave them on their own.
